Bandi Sasha Robert
Bandi Sasha Robert
Biography
Bandi Sasha Robert (*1989 in Romania), (he/his), visual artist, of Romanian ethnical background, grew up, lives and works in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. His practice is fluent across mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and installation. Bandi’s works inspect figures that exist in states of tension — between violence and tenderness, the sacred and the grotesque, the familiar and the strange. By placing the body, the environment, and symbolic imagery into uneasy relationships, he aims to create work that feels immediate, physical, and emotionally charged — work that resists easy categorization and instead operates as a living archive of internal and collective experience.
Artistic disciplines:
Process
Bandi Sasha Robert's working process makes use of rough surfaces, raw textures, and imperfect forms that preserve the physical input of the hand and capture the instability of the moment. Starting by exploring a theme or emotion that s e want to communicate, through sketches and experimentation with materials, he gradually shapes the visual language of the piece, refining composition, texture, and color until the idea is fully expressed.
Notable themes
Recurring theme in Bandi Sasha Robert's works are animals, distorted bodies, ritual objects, and damaged landscapes, acting as emotional markers. Much of his imagery is informed by [[folklore, outsider art traditions, and personal experiences, making reference to archetypal scenes — battles, gatherings, ceremonies, isolation.
