Concrete art

= a form of non-representational, geometric abstract art, launched by Theo van Doesburg in 1930, that rejects all imitation of nature, symbolism, or subjective emotion. It focuses on "concrete" realities—lines, colors, and planes—as objective, self-contained elements intended to create a clear, rational, and, often, mathematical visual language.
