Biography

Clarisa Marcovici, (she/her) visual artist, (b. 1921, București, Romania) of Romanian ethnical background, has lived in Romania. Marcovici is an usual name given in Romania to people of Jewish descent (name localisation, see multiple examples here[1]).




Arrest under communist regime

She was arrested on 18.07.1948 for attempting to cross the border. By sentence no. 1523/18.IX.1948 of the Bucharest Military Tribunal she was sentenced to 2 years of correctional imprisonment with suspension of the execution of the sentence.[2]
