Her practice is built around a drive to tell stories that connect with her experience as an Eastern European woman living a rather nomadic life throughout Europe. She extracts her themes directly from her nomad life though Europe, creating work on the way, within the encountered spatial and temporal restrictions, concerned with the poetics of the everyday, employing minimal gestures and observational precision to create spaces of quiet resilience when facing unfamiliar or shifting environments.

Ileana Czeghedi, (she/her) visual artist, (b. 1921, Furto, Hungary) of Romanian or Hungarian ethnical background |information under research|, has lived in Romania.



Arrest under communist regime

She was arrested on 08.II.1950 for fraudulent border crossing. By sentence no.70 of 13.I.1950 of the Cluj Military Prosecutor's Office she was sentenced to 3 years of correctional prison. Released on 07.III.1953[1]
