Răzvan Botiș
Biography
Răzvan Botiș (b. 1984 in Brașov, Romania), (he/him), visual artist, of Romanian ethnical background, grew up in Romania, lives and works in Cluj-Napoca. Working with the materiality of scraps of paper, cardboard, scraps of covers, copper or brass sheets, he used to manipulate clay in a sculptural manner until he learnt what ceramics meant. Graduated from the Hans Mattis-Teutsch High School of Fine Arts, finishes Ion Andreescu University Cluj-Napoca in 2007 under Prof. Univ. Dr. Titu Toncian, with the work "Seriality". Master's degree in 2009 in "Public art", with doctoral thesis (2016-2019) under Professor Univ. Dr. Ioan Sbârciu, on International Neo-Expressionism and The Eighties Generation in Romania.

Process
Răzvan Botiș's focus is on drawing. Adding color to his practice, like working on canvas, painting, made possible a deeper understanding of the environment and its evergrowing complexity, among which the geography plays a functional role within the need for orientation and surviving in nature.
