Mihaela Vezentan
Biography
Mihaela Vezentan (Mihaela Moldovan) (b. in Baia Mare, Romania), (she/her), visual artist, of Romanian ethnical background, grew up in Romania, lives and works in Bucharest. She works at the intersection of textile practice, memory, and feminist reflection on time and domesticity, grounded in lived experience rather than theory alone.
Artistic disciplines:
Process
Mihaela Vezentan's working process unfolds along two interconnected trajectories: one begins with textile gestures — knots, threads, repetitive structures derived from domestic lace, enlarged until they become immersive environments, the second trajectory revisits childhood as a form of healing by reclaiming joy and creativity, inspired by early tactile memories — simple gestures of folding, interlacing, and constructing small or large scale surfaces, by hand.
Notable themes
Recurring theme in Mihaela Vezentan's works is living room memories, the fragility and sacrifice of women caught in the domestic sphere, feminine identity, community and aspects of commonning.
Works in collections and public recognition
