'''Olga Sturdza''', (she/her) visual [[Artists\|artist]], (b. 1884, Popești village, Iași, Romania, d. 1971, Varengeville-sur-Mer, France) of Romanian ethnical background, has lived in [[Romania]] and [[France]]. Born into the Mavrocordat family, she was a descendant of the Phanariot rulers. Princess Olga Sturdza was the daughter of Prince Alexandru Mavrocordat and Lucia Cantacuzino-Pașcanu. Princess Olga Mavrocordat studied painting and sculpture in Berlin, Dresden and Paris, first as a student of the sculptor Debois and then as an apprentice of the famous Auguste Rodin. In the year she married, she exhibited her sculptures at the Paris Salon. She had her first studio in Dieppe, then opened a studio in Iași, in Copou, where she worked with chisel and hammer on marble busts and statues.

			After World War II, her family's silverware, library and other valuables were taken from the castle destroyed by the Germans to the family castle in Dieppe (France). In the year of nationalization, 1948, the princess was evicted from the house in Hangu and moved with her son Dimitrie's widow and grandchildren to their home in Bucharest. They were forced to leave this house as well, moving to a two-room house in the Crucea de Piatră neighborhood, from where she was arrested and arrested in 1953, together with her daughter-in-law, Ileana Manu-Sturdza, on charges of selling wood from their former property (the Hangu forest). They were detained in Mislea and Jilava penitentiaries, being released after 9 months.
